Perry Memorial Cemetery as seen from the highway
Driving down the road leading out of the cemetery. When I took this photo, there was so much growing in the roadway. I think it was a long time since anyone had driven up there.

A Family Tragedy: Jacob Blaine Mauk, Jacob and Susannah’s 9th child, was born on October 7, 1826. He married Elizabeth McElhoes and they had their first child in 1856. Three of their sons died between 1863 and 1865, followed by further family tragedy in 1876. From the Indian Progress on August 3, 1876 we learn: “Jacob Mauk of Perrysville, has lost four children by diphtheria, within two weeks. He has the sympathy of many warm friends in this place.” The following week on August 10, 1876 we read: “Mr. Jacob Mauk of Perrysville, whose affliction we noticed last week, in the death of four children, has been more sorely tried by the deaths of his wife and one more child, making five children in all.”
